FAQs

What is art therapy?

“Art therapy is a mental health profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship.” -The American Art Therapy Association

What is holistic therapy?

As an Integrative Mental Health Professional (IMHP), I integrate evidence-based holistic practices into our sessions. Research supports the connection between mind, body, and mental health. Holistic therapy addresses this interconnectedness through mindfulness, movement, and nutrition, while addressing potential barriers.

How much are sessions?

Initial intake sessions are $160. Subsequent sessions are $150 for 50 minutes. If you have insurance, you may be able to utilize your out-of-network (OON) benefits to cover a portion of session costs. A limited number of sliding scale spots are available on a first-come first-serve basis if finances are a barrier to treatment.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not submit claims to insurance. You may be able to utilize out-of-network (OON) benefits. This means you will pay for session fees upfront and your insurance can reimburse you for part, or most, of your session fees, depending on your coverage, by submitting a superbill to them.

Why would I not use insurance?

Insurance requires a diagnosis, typically within the first hour of meeting a person. Especially with children, I do not always believe this is best practice. While I am able to diagnose and do so when in the best interest of the client, diagnoses can at times be limiting. Using insurance also means there is a degree of loss of confidentiality, potential limitations on present and/or future treatment, limited access to therapists, and restricted therapist autonomy.

Paying privately for therapy allows for continuation of care, even when there are changes to your insurance. I strive to provide accessibility of services through the potential for sliding scale rates.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is a receipt of the services you receive and can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement for session fees. Depending on what kind of mental health coverage you have, your insurance will often pay for some, or most, of your session fees. It’s best to check with your insurance company directly to determine what your out-of-network (OON) benefits are, as these vary across companies and plans.

Do you accept HSA/FSA?

Yes! I’m happy to accept your HSA or FSA card. I also accept cash, check, credit, or debit cards.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment time will be charged the full session rate.
